OVAL BILLIARD TABLE. A BILLIARD FACTORY.
_ One of tho growing industries of Wellington is that of billiard-table making. The carriage of tables is a costly item, tho duty another, and tho profit of the outside manufacturer a third, which, it is claimed, go to make it more advantageous to buyers to deal with a local firm, and keep the money in the Dominion. Messrs. Wright, .Danish and Co., of Willis-street, have for some years pnid particular attention to the making of billiard tables, and their manufactures aro being distributed all over 'the Dominion. 'For example, a representative of The Post was shown yesterday a, table already packed, awaiting transport to Wairoa, Hawke's Bay, and two tables in the making for Napier. Mr. W. Dart, who is in charge of the works, showed, with manifest piide. an oval "billiard table made in the fch"iaton style. Large quantities of oak fond walnut from Amciica, cedar from Atiotralia, blackwoud Horn Tasmania, mahogany from Honduras, together with New Zealand fancy woods art* kept on the premises ready to tako their pait in billiard tables, ait furniture, or highclass shop-fitting. In thoso two lastnamed particulars Messrs. Wright, Ravish, and Co. 'slate that they do a groat deal of business, but the furnituie is all mado to order, and seine of it h beautifully carved by hand on the premises, Mr. Dart himself doing mis work. Cushions and slates are refitted by the firm, ancl a quantity of slates from Bangor are- to bo scon in their original packages already for filling to new tables.i Murk attention is albu paid to billiard balls.
