NATURE OF THE NEW LEGISLATION. RELIEF FOR SUFFERING PRIESTS, i [PBESS ASSOCIATION/I PARIS, 23rd January. The Bill promoted by M. Briand, Minister of Public Worship, to supplement the Church Separation Law abrogates the necessity of preliminary declaration in respect to public worship, but if declaration is mtide by any two parishioners, and the name of the priest enter-ed, such prieat becomes legally entitled to use the church referred to in the declaration. LONDON, 23rd January. The Paris correspondent of Tho Times says M. Briand's Bill will be welcomed as affording relief to thousands of priests, inasmuch as it provides that failure to notify the authorities of meetings lor public worship shall not involve s-uppics-sion of the allowance hillvcito granted. The Government thus raves ecclesiastics from the penury to which tho Vatican condemned thorn.
