WATKIN MILLS CONCERT TO-NIGHT
The- first of the three concerts to be given by. the. Watkin Mills English QuinfeEle Party, in. conjunction with the Wellington Musical Union, is to be given in -fche-'Town Hall this evening. -The party, .-which" consists of Messrs. Watkin Mills (ba'ssoi) and Harold Wilde" (tenor), Misses "Edith Kirkwood (soprano) and Gertrude Lonsdale (contralto), and M. Eduard Pnrlovitz -(pianist) arrived from the. South by the Victoria this morning, and the members are staying at the Royal Oak Hotel. To-night's programme is packed full of good things for music-lovers, and, fIS was stated, in yesterday's Post, contains several items specially composed for the singers. The second portion of this .evenings-- programme wi',l consist entirely of a song cycle, "The Daisy ' Chain," by JLiza Lehmann. The cycle contains twelve songs of childhood, with solos for the four vocalists and four quartets. A large attendance is expected this evening, and •, •rxangemeps have been made for an early opening of the doors. To-morrow evening Mr. Mills and his party are to sing the solos ,in Mendelsso&n's oratorio "St. Paul," to' be produced by the Musical Union under the baton of Mr. Robert Parker. The Huit I rain is to be delayed for "the finish of "St. Paul" to-morrow evening. Very large audiences attended the party's concerts in the South.
