CRICKET.
THE GAS COMPANY CLUB. Tbe large hall of the Gas; Company's premises was filled last night on the occasion of the annual meeting of the Gas Company's Club. The chair was occupied by the Acting-Secretary of th-3 Company (Mr. J. H. Helliwell), who moved the adoption of the report and balancjsheet. The Chairm.m congratulated the club on its success in the field, and the amount of enthusiasm that was displayed by the members. He complimented Mr. Laws on obtaining the highest score in the Senior Championship ]ast season. The report and balancesheet was adopted without debate. The officers of the club were elected as follows: — President, Mr. D. J. Nathan; Vice-Presidente, Mesera D. Anderson, A. E. Pearce, J. Barry, H. Beauchamp, K. G. Howell, H. Birch, J. H. Helliwell, C. B. Norwood, and J. Kershaw ; Captain First Eleven, Mr. R. G. Hcxwell; Practice Captains, Messrs. A. Hawthorne and F. Lingard ; Delegates to the Association, Messrs. H. Birch, J. J. North, and W. J. Stevens; Treasurer, Mr. W. J. Young; Auditor, Mr. J. H. Helliwell; Senior Match Committee, Messrs. R. Burke, W. J. Stevens, and A. Hawthorne; Junior Match Committee, Messrs. J. J. North, F. Lingard, and E. Taylor; Secretary, Mr. J. J. North. On the call of the Chairman, Mr. H. Birch, the Company's tngineer, presented the trophies won last season. Messrs J. H. Helliwell and H. Birch promised trophies for the coming reason. (Applause.) Mr. J. Danks wrote offering a bat for the player who obtains the highest individual score, and onb flar the member who makes, tho most number if catches during the season. The Chairman notified that the directors had donated £25 to the club's flonds. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the directors, also to donors of trophies for last season. The delegates were instructed to vote for Mr. T. H. Wilson's motion, particulars of which were published in yesterday's Post. Mr. Cyril Smith was thanked for bis services as scorer last season. The club intends to make a presentation to this -official. Votes of thanks were accorded the Chairman. At the conclusion of the formal business, refreshments were handed round, and a. pleasant social evening was spent.
