Wind.-Strong to gale fiom between northeast and north and west after 12 hours at aU places northward of East Cape, Taupo, and Katlan, and from between north and west and south-west thence to Kapierj strong to gale from between south and east and north-east thence to Kaikouia and HokitiKa, and from between south-west and south and eaat at all other places. Barometer.— Fall at all places northward of Kaikoura and Cap* Farewell. Rise everywhere Yea.— Heavy on all eastern coast and on western coast of North Island and at Cape Farewell. Moderate elsewheic. Tides.— Very high on eastern coast of South Island; high northward of East Cape and between Wanganui and Foxton. Moderate all other ports. Rain is to be expected generally. Warning signals for northerly gale is exhibited at Cape Maiia Van Dicmen and Tiritiri, for westerly gale at East Cape, and for southerly gale at Capes Campbell, Foulwind, Farewell Spit, and Nugget Point. SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS. Little movement of barometer generally. Strong winds to gales from the southward havo been experienced on tbe cast coast southward of ?.'apier.
