THORNDON SWIMMING CLUB.
Tho first annual meeting of the above (club took place at the Shamrock Jaotel j last evening. There was a good attendance of members, and Mr. T. Ronayne (Vicc-Preaident) waa in the chair. In moving tho adoption of the report (a summary of Avhich nas been published) the Chairman referred to tho satisfactory progress made since the club's inception. He considered the charge of ?d. for admission to the baths avos unreasonable, and it should bo reduced tQ Id as. Avaa charged in other centres. Mr. Ronayno suggested that a deputation f r oni the club should wait on the City Council with regard to several matters requiring improvement at the baths. Mr. C. Todd seconded the motion, and inferred to the coming reconciliation of the Auckland Swimming Asso6iation Avith tho Now Zealand Amateur Association, Avhioh would mean that all tho sv/immers in tho colony would bo governed by the one Association. Tho report and balance-sheet, Avhich .showed *\ balance in hand of £1 15s 10d, Avero adopted. ' Tho election of officers resulted as follows :— President, Dr. Grace (re-elect-ed) ; Vice-Presidents, Messrs. T. Ronayne, G. Hutchison^ M.11.R. , R. M. Tolhurst, A. E. Kernot, H. Bcaucham.Pt and Dr. Newman ; Captain, Mr. T. Gnay (re-elected) ; Vice-Captain Mr. W. E. Rawson ; Haudicappers, Messrs. G. i Cloko and A . W. Smith; Treasurer! Mr. J. A. Cloland ; Secretory, Mr. O. J. Todd; Committee, Messrs. D. Joslin, A. Samuels, A. W. W. Curtis, 0. Siubbs, J. M, Hamilton, and J. Styles ; Auditois, Messrs. A. M. Smith and E. J. M. Dennehy (re-elected) ; Delogatos to the Now Zealand Amateur SAvimming At^ocio-lion, Messrs. D. Lee, J. O. Sibbald, and A. E. Craddick (re • elected) ; Sturter, Mr. E. J. Fleming. Tlio Secretary Avas instruoted to send a letter to Mr. 11. J. Duigan, one of the founders of the club, thanking him for his services, and also sympathising Avith. him in his recent illness. On tho motion of Mr. Rawson, seconded by Mr. Hutchison, it Ava-s decided to alter' tho rule so that jjne of the members of tho Committee shall be under the age of eighteen. Fifty-five now members wero elected, and it Avas stated that sovcral citizens had announced their intention of presenting trophies for competition, during the' coming (season. It was decided to open the season with a race aver a 50 yards course on the 7th October. Votes of thank? to the outgoing officers, donors of trophies, tho Press, and the Chairman concluded the mooting.
