PETONE RIFLE CLUB.
♦ ' ' The annual meeting of the Petone Riflo Club Avaa held last evening, at the Central Hotel, Petone, the President (Mr. R. C. Kirk) in tho chair. The captain's leport, after detailing members' individual performances during tho season, stated that tho conclusion of tho season had not sustained the promise of the opening. The balance-sheet.(show-ing a small credit balance) and the report Avere adopted. Votes of thanks were given the donors of prizes, and to the officers of the club. Tho folloAving officers were elected for tho ensuing term : — Patron, Lord Ranfurly; President, Mr. R. C. Kirk; VicePresidents, Drs. Newman, Perry, Ross, and Purdy, Messrs. Price, Scales, Singer, Casey, Grace, Udy, Haybittle, Brandon, Wilson, Bunny, Chapman, Short, and Tisdell ; Trustees, Messrs. T>reyethick and Holland; Captain, Mr."W-'H. Ballinger ; Vice-Captain, Mr. O. Hollard ; Treasurer, Mr. J. Wilson ; Secretary, Mr. C. J. Hollard; Auditor, Mr. J. Piper j Committoo, Messrs. A. Ballinger, Smithies, Burridge, Williams, and Dixon. Sevoru] new members were elected, and trophies Avore promised. After tho formal business, some 25 members sat do\Vu to a supper provided by Host Williams, after, Avhich the prizes Avon during tho season were pre-
seated by Dr. Boss to the winner^— Mess,re. C. J. and C. Hollurd, jun., W. Dixon, R. 0. Kirk, G. 8.. Chapman, J. Smithies, 6. V. 'Burridge, and (J- Tro> vcthick. Tlie club's Championship was wou by Mr. Kirk (Mayor of the Borough) for the fifth time, tihe last iour wins being ia succession, and the Town Clerk (Mr. Sniithieg) was tba runner-up. Captain Ballingcr, on behalf of the mcinbars, made a presentation to the '-ate Seorctuvy (Mr. Smithies), and Mr. Kirk lilso tpok a4v<mtnge of th,c occasion to present a trophy which he had promised tho Petono Homing JUgeon ClUjb, -ud wh4ch b,ad been won by !tor.
