[PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Wanganui, Bth March. A boat bearing the name of " Waptie" has been washed up on the beach at Waiepu, in the direction of Turakina. No such boat is missing either from here or Foxton. Enquiries are being made. This Day. At the District Court, before Judge Kettle, David Hallam, of Hunterville, charged with theft and embezzlement, was found Not Guilty. Auckland, This Day. Messrs. Bagnall, Luke, and Farrell .have been elected members of the Board of Education. Woodville, BtU March. Miss Fawbert, a new arrival from Home, has been recommended by the School Committee for the position of mistress of the Woodville school. Wanganui, Bth March. Mr. H. L. Marsack, of Auckland, has been appointed Inspector of Abattoirs *and Dairies for Wangauui. The Wanganui Rifles are sending only three men to the Rifle Association Meeting at Oamaru, and the Alexandra Cavalry will send two. Chbistchubch, Bth March. An accident occurred yesterday to the coach between Akaroa and Little River. It was drawn by five horses, and when going down hill from The Summit to Little River the horses bolted. The coach struck a telegraph post, and the body of the coach charged through a post and rail fence, and was thrown 20 feet down the side of the hill. Ten passengers were on board, and one, a man named Scieme, was badly injured, and has been brought to the Hospital. The others had a marvellous escape, for beyond a severe shaking and bruises, they were not seriously hurt. Mr. A. E. G. Rhodes, who with his wife was on the box seat, was thrown a clear 60ft down the hill. Pahiatua, Bth March. At a meeting of the Borough Council last evening the concession granted to the Balclutha Water Gas Company to light the town with water gas was extended for six months, within which time the gas is to be installed.
