THE BANK AMALGAMATION. [BY TELEGRAPH-PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, 20th November.

At the adjourned half-yearly meeting of the Colonial Bank, the Hon. Q. M'Lean, M.L.C.^ho presided, said as the result of the previous meeting was the almost unanimous ratification of the contraot for the sale of the Bank, there was no business now to be brought before this meeting, save and except the formal adoption of the report and balance sheet for the last half-year. The business of the Bnnk was taken over by the Bank of New Zealand on Monday last, and this Bank was now only carrying on such business as was necessary for the liquidation of its affairs. He moved that the leport and balance-sheet be adopted The Hon. Mr. Larnach seoonded the motion. Replying to a question, tbe Chairman said the matter of the appointment of a liquidator had engaged the serioua attention of the directors, but no decision had been arrived at. The directors would make the recommendation to too Judge. It wonld bo for the Judge to say whether he would accept the recommendation. A Shareholder asked whether it was probable that the first 13s 4d suuposed to be given the shareholders as a result of the sale would be paid entirely, and if soon P The Chairman replied that tbe whole matter was threshed out at the meeting on the Bth, and people who talked in that way had better sell their shares. Ihere was a market for them at more than 13s 4d. He deolined to give any further pledge. If people would not take what was said at the last meeting, he would not discuss the question again, and throwing out hints about statements made was a coarse he did not fa el inclined to put up with. At the last meeting he told the shareholder all about the liability, and it was not right that they should pome to this meeting again and ask for the information. The motion was put and carried. Mr. G. L\ Cennißton was eleoted auditor.
