FORESTERS' DISTRICT MEETING.
— . — *_ The annual Distiiot Meeting of the Anoient Order of Foresters of the Wellington Provinoial District is being held to-day 'in the Foresiers' Hall, Lambton-quay, Bro. Allan Skene, District Chief Hanger, providing. The report of the Distriot Omoers stated that two new courts (Court Onward, at Wanfeanui, for wqmen, and Court Makakahi, at Eka(ahuna) had been opened during the yoar, making the total number of oourts 30, inoluding three for women. In July, Ero. F. Burnley resigned the office of D.S.C.R., in consequence of his removal to another district, and D.B. Bro. P. M'Comiskey was advanoed to the office, Bro. C. F. Worth taking the offioe, of D.B. Bros. A. Henley, T. Bryant, and T. G. Kershaw had been eleot jd to audit the District accounts until the present meeting. As to the fipancial position of the Distriot, the several funds continued to prosper. The Gennral Fund, aftar paying death olaims of '£26o, had inoretsed to £631 8s BJ. This was largely due to deoreased mortality during the ye^r. The interest from the invested capital paid the deith olaims, and loft a surplus of £69 103 9d. Tho Management Fund, after paying all expenses, o-rrird forward a balance of £170 Is 3d; the Juvenile Fund had increased £8 33 2d ) and the total amount of Distriot funds was £6180 17s sd, an increase of £729 6a 7d. The accumulated funds of the juvenile oourts was £577 15s 44, and of adult oourt? £33,770 15s Bd, the whole oombined making the accumulated fundß of the Distriot £40,569 8a s<i. DuriDg the year 439/ members had joined and 286 had left, the present number on the register being 2917. The Diatriot Officers record their appreciation of the effioient manner in whioh the Trnitoe3 continue to deal with the inveotment of the Distriot funds. They suggest certain amendments in the by-laws, and hope to see adopted by the various Districts throughout the colony a uniform age at whioh members can be admittc d by oleirance. The report and accompanying balancesheets were adopted.
