New Zealand Yachting Association. MEETING Of DELEGATES.

A meeting of the representatives of tho sovoral Yacht Clubs of tho colony was hold at tho Occidental Hotel last evening, the * purpose being to discuss the rules drawn up by tho Provisional Committoo appointed some time ago, together with amendments which have been suggested by tho clnbs to whom they have been submitted. Tho fol- • lowing representatives wore present : — Port Nicholson Yacht Clvb — Messrs. G. Moo and J. Coutts. Canterbury Yaoht Club" —Mr. C. A. Rich. Auckland Yaoht ClubMessrs. T. Honderson and J. B, (Jrahfini. Dr. Pell, and Mossvs. C. E.Batkin, W. Widdop, anclM. Chapman, members of tho Provisional Committoo, woro also presont, and tho latter was voted to tho chair. Mr. A. S. Biss attonded as secretary pro tin. Tho Chairman, in referring to the business before tho meeting 1 , thought the Association might now bo fairly con&idored to have been launched, although it could not bo looked npon as aotnally formed until tho rales had been adopted by tho different clubs. At tho Chairman's suggestion the draft of rules drawn up by provisional committee were then considered wriatim. Eulo 1. — This Association shall be called ' Tho Now Zealand Yacht Raoing Assooiaion." • The Auckland Club suggested'flidt ho words " yacht racing " should Ye struck utand the word "yachting" substituted. Ir. Hondorson explfiinod that his club were f opinion that the amendment would tnako . more gonoral. No Club in arrear shall bo entitled to vote it any meeting of tho Association. Rule 10.—Any Club may bo expellod from tlio Association by a vote of two-thirds of tlio Clubs belonging to the Association v presented at a meeting of the Committee called for the purpose. Coming to the question of the Championship, Mr. Hendor3on submitted the proposal made by his club, that there should r>e a first and second-class Champion Race. This was put into the form of a resolution, and carried, the Port Nicholson Club representatives alone voting against it. Another proposal made by Mr. Henderson, that the rating should be not less than five tons for tlie first-class Championthip and under five tons for tho Bocoud-clasa, was lost by four ►votes to three. Mr. Mcc then proposed tbat tlio minimum rating for the first-class yachts should be seven tons, and for the secondclass four tons and under seven, which was carried. Mr. Mcc wished a resolution passed to the effect that the prize money for tho first-class yaoht race should not be less than J2IOO. Messrs. Biss and Rich thought that this waß a question to be settled by the Council of the Association, who would have to bo governed by their finances. Thia was agreed to, and rule 11 was then passed as follows :—Tlie Committee shall at tho annual mooting deoido at which centre or centres the next championship races shall be sailed ; and the winning yachts of such race shall bo callod tho champions of their respective classes for tho ensuing year. Rule 12. —Each Club ontoring the Association must rogistor ita colours, whioh shall bo subject to tho approval of the Committee.—Carried. Rule 13.—The Committee shall decide all disputes which shall be referred to it, and from its decision there shall be no appeal. All disputes must be referred to the Association through an associated Club, and a full report of the decisions Bhall be filed by the Secretary.—Carried. Rule 14.—Tho sailing rules of the Yacht Racing Assooiation of Great Britain, except as to classification, shall be adopted as the sailing rules of this Assooiation. Mr. Henderson suggested that the rules of the Auckland Club should be adopted, they having been found to work very satisfactorily. The rule was, howovor, adopted as printed. Rule 15.—Tho committee shall appoint meaanrers for each port. A certificate obtained at any port from an Association measurer at that port shall bo good for any regatta, provided that no alteration has been made. Carried. Rule 16.—Nominations of officers must be made at least one month prior to date of annual mooting, and tho names of the persona nominated shall be sent to each associated club in the notice convening the mooting. Carriod. It waß resolved to recommend that the foregoing should bo the rules of tho New Zoaland Yachting Association, and tho meeting, which had lasted three and a half hours, then adjourned, i
