THE MATHESON MURDER. CHADWICK'S BODY FOUND.
[by telegraph.] [united fbbbs association.] Nafieb, Bth June. The body of the man Chadwick, who is supposed to have murdered Roderick; Matheson on 14th January last, has been found in Pohui bush, close to the scene of the murder. No details are to hand. [Matheson's death was at first attributed to nis being kicked by a horse, which, a few minutes before the discovery of his dead body, he was seen to be handling at the rear of the Pakamoana Station homestead. Everything favoured this view until surgical examination discovered the fact that the wounds he had received could not have been so inflicted. Suspicion was then directed upon a man named Chadwick, employed on the station, who had suddenly disappeared from the place at the name time that Matheson must nave been murdered. An organised and prolonged search for Chadwick, however, failed to unearth his whereabouts, and eventually the quest had to be abandoned, the supposition being that the man, who was said to have acted strangely for some time past, had hid and perished in the bush.]
