A few road cars started yesterday morning, bat roturned to iho stableß at midday. Despite the efforts of tho polioo tho tracos of several of the 'busses which wore running were cut, tho windows smashed, and the drivers forood to return with thoir vohiole3 to the stdbles. Two of tho 'busses were rushed by tho crowd and overturned. Several of tlio strikers have been arrested for intimidation. Mr, Barns was among tho numbo'r, but ho was subsequently released. It ia believed that the strike will largely result in the tickot system being adopted, with the view of stopping the peculation that is known to bo oarriod on. The Times, in nn article on tho sheSrirs' difficulty in Quocnsland, praises the encrgetio action taken by the Government, and tho successful rosi stance that was offered to tho demands of the men. It also eulogises the loyalty and discipline of tho dofonce force, and the good sense ahd moderation displayed by tho mass of the community.
