*- WELLINGTON V. NBLBON, Mr. H. F. Allen, secretary of the Wellington Crioketers' Association, has received a telegram from the Association in Nelson, stating that the use of the oollege grounds in Nelson has been refused for the annual matoh between Wellington and Nelson, and suggesting that the game should be played on the Basin Beservo here on Boxing Day (Friday) and Saturday next. Under the oircumstanoes, the Matoh|Committee of the Wellington Association have accepted the suggestion, and arranged that the matoh shall come off here. Tho tdam will be ohosen to-morrow night, and preference will be given to those who turn np to practice. BINIOB CUF. A commencement was made on Saturday with the Wellington-Midland heat of the Senior Cnp Match. The Midlanders won tha toss, and going in to bat the last wioket did not fall until the soore stood at 170. Kirker was the only bowler whose performance was worth mentioning. The fielding of several of the Wellingtons was very good, particularly that of Crawshaw. When stumps were drawn for the day, the Wellingtons had lost two wickets for 88 runs. M'Girr was unable to plaj for the Midland Club, and the loss of his services, more particularly in the bowling department, was severely felt. Scores : — Midland.— First Innings. W. The Phoenix in their next innings made 20. MISCELLANEOUS. A one-innings match was played at Island Bay on Saturday, between teams from the warehouses of Turnbull & Co. and Duthie & Co. The game was won by the latter's representatives by five runs. On Saturday the Rival third belt the Surrey third, the respective scores being 74 (Warwick 14) and 53 (Miles 15). Johnson, of k the Rivals, did the hat triok. A team representing MeesrH. Staples and Co., bootmakers, belt an eleven of the Kilbirnie Club on Saturday by 3 rnns on the first innings. For the winners Dean made 18, whilst Greenfield was the most successful with the ball. The scores were— Staples, 38 ; Kilbimie, 35. The Midland third won an exoiting matoh on Saturday with the Thorndon Club by 2 rnns. Soores— Midland, 48 (Kelling 19, Cloke 7 not out, and Patriok 6). Thorndon 46 (Thirkell 11, Hagfret 10, Firth 8). H. Upham and Belworthy bowled splendidly for the winners, as did Morton and Haggett for tke losers, there being no ohange in the bowling throughout the match. A matoh between the boys of Lyon and Blair's and the Government Printing Offioe was won by the former by six wiokets and 11 runs. Some tall bowling was performed in the Government Insuranoe v. Property Tax second eleven matoh on Friday. Gormley, in the first innings, took 3 wiokets for 12 runs, and in the seoond 8 wiokets for 2 rnns. The Insuranoe won by an innings. A one-innings match was then played, when the same bowler captured 6 wiokets for 15. He thus oame out with a total of 17 wiokets for 29 runs— not a bad day's performance.
