i This Day. ' (Before Messrs. E. W. Morrah and T. M'Kenrie, Justices.) BIBULOUS SUBJECTS. One female and two male offenders were . convicted of drunkenness, and were treated as usual by the Court, the cost of cab hire being also imposed in two instances. Another inebriate, in addition to the charge ' of drunkenness, was accused of having com- ' mitted an indecent act in Grey-street. For ' having been drunk a fine of ss, with the alternative of 24 hours in jraol, was imposed, and as the police did not press the other charge the accused was discharged. DRUNK AND DISOEDEELT. , Eobert Whitohurch declined to admit an 1 accusation made by the police that he misconducted himself in Hai rung-street last evening, while in a state of intoxication. Constable Cox and a witness named J. C. Bronte gave evidence in support of the charge. The accused said the disturbance was purely a family affair. The Bench administered a caution, and dismissed tfce charge. vagbanct. A very dirty-looking person named Samnel Beresford, whp'cam,e to the Police Station last evening and requested to be looked up, as he. was perfectly destitute, was brought up and charged with vagranoy. The accused had nothing to say in defence, and tho Court ordered him to gaol for a week, with hard labour. BREACH OF BAILWAT BT-LAWB. Thomas Baghurst, Patrick Maloncy, and Jeremiah Lowe were charged with hiding committed a breach of the Wellington and Manawatu Bailway Co.'s by-laws by plying for hire on the platform of the station without a lioenae. The defendants each pleaded Not Guilty, and the cases were dismissed through iaaoftoient evidence. B3CACHBB O* CITT BT-LAWS. Henry Unriok iras fined ss, with ooats, for

having left hia cab unattended in Wingfield street on the 81st of October, and Oliffe Richmond, (or having driven a spring cart round the corner of Manne s-streot at a pace faster than a walk on the same date, was fined a similar amount, with costs. William Tevereham, who was proceeded against by tbe police for having allowed the chimney of bis rcsidonce at Nowtown to take fire on the 23th Ootober, was fined 2s 6d, with costs. Two youngsters, whoso names wore Charles Adams and William Wright, were charged with having thrown stones on tho 23rd of Octobor to the damage of property of Yong Soe, a Celestial residing in Upper Willisstreet. The youthful defendants disclaimed all knowledge of the affair. The oharge, however, was proved by Constable Boskiville and another witness. The lads, it seems, pelted several stones through the open doorway of the com- . plainant's shop and then made off, but were subsequently captured. Tho Benoh fined Adams 10s, with 5s 6d costs, and Wright, who had been before the Court on a previous oocaeion, was fined 15», with 5s 6d costs.
