A Fraudulent Bankrupt. SENTENCE OF IMPRISONMENT.

LBt Tklkqbaph.l (Our Own Correspondent.) PAI/MBBBTON, THIB DAT. C. Henry, a bankrupt, who had been arrested twice lately on charges of being about to abscond, was before Judge Rawson for public examination yesterday, the result being that he was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for fraudulent bankruptcy. A few Judge Bawsona in the colony would make passing through the Couit a slightly more difficult process than it appears to be. The public examination disclosed an extraordinary state of affairs. He had sent his tools of trade and personal helangingß to Sydney with his wife and brother-in-law, and yet he said he was going to start business in Napier. He had paid Mr. Jellicoe .£ll5 to defend him in the Supreme Court, Wanganui, when No Bill was returned on the charge of arson, and insurance to the amount of .£4OO had been received by Mr. Jelliooe and paid away on his behalf jnst before he filed. Besides that the Official Assignee reported that the bankrupt had received .£2OO cash since December, which he had not acoonnted for. Like the other Feilding bankrupt, Henry was an illiterate man, but knew how to take care of his cash. — »—^—^—^»
