The eleotions to the Legislative Assembly have resulted in the return of 23 Ministerialists, 8 Opposition members, and 1 doubtful. Stdnet, Ist June. The New t-outh Wales Government has dismissed Captain R. R. Armstrong, late R.N., from his position as Resident at Lord Howe's Island, for selling liquor to the natives without a lioense. Adelaide, Ist June. The South Australian Parliament was opened to-day by his Excellency the Governor, who, in his speech on the occasion, announced that a . ill would shortly be introduced to authorise the remitting of on <- third of the year's interest due by selectors, owing to the failure of the wheat crop during the past season. Nothing further ot importance was mentioned in the speech. Melbourne, This Day. Arrived, this morning — Union Bieamship Albion, from Bluff. The Union Company's Manapouri leaves for Dunedin to-morrow. The ship Mistley Hall, 1772 tons, which has just arrived from London, had a narrow escape from destruction by fire during the passage. A quantity of acids, forming part of her cargo, spontaneously ignited, but the fire was extinguished without, much damage being dona.
