Legal points having been raised in connection with the conviction of the bushranger Wells, the Governor has granted a respite of the death sentence until 22nd inst. This Dat. The Queensland National Bank has received a telegram from London to the effect that the floating of the proposed Queensland loan has been postponed until after the approaching general election in England, as it is feared the excitement attending the aame might endanger the Buccess of the loan. Sydney, 15th March. The E. and A. M. steamship Normanby arrived at Cooktown on Saturday. She brings the following items of Eastern news : — Great excitement exists at Saijon, Cochin China, relative to the French occupation of Tonquin. The Japanese Executive are considering the necessity for establishing a National Assembly. The King of Siam is about to visit all the capitals in Europe.
