SCHOOL CONCERT.

A very appreciative audience, which filled the Town Hall on Friday evening, helped to swell the school prize and sports funds very materially. The quality of the programme throughout was really excellent. The first part, given by the children, reflected great credit upon the performers as well as upon the teachers who trained them, Mr P. Smith and Miss Davidson, who were assisted by the Committeemen's wives and Mrs Kingan, and by Mrs C. M. Sheat, the accompanist. The second part, given by adults, was equally good, all the performers being recalled, sometimes more than once. At the outset Mr J. H. Skinner, chairman of the Committee, thanked the residents for their interest in the school and practical help. He also thanked the performers. The adults who assisted were Mrs Turnbull, Miss Wraight, and Messrs Campbell and Couch, Mesdames A. J. Sheat and W. J. Sheat and Miss Hatchard playing the accompaniments.

Nearly every child in the school took part, the' children's programme being as follows: Pianoforte duet, Bonnie Brown and Sadie Upston; nursery rhymes, infants; recitation, Ray Kingan; Maori song, St. 6 girls; recitation, Daphne Caldwell; sailor song, boys; dialogue, Ivan Happer and Joyce Fraser; song, "Golden Slumbers," St. 6 girls; recitation, Geof. Johnson; Kinky Kids parade, boys; piano duet, Ella 'Chamberlain and Dorothy Johnson; action recitation, "Miss Milligan's girls," Dallas Eddy, assisted by the girls; dialogue, "London street quarrel," Esme Manson and Peggy Wright; doll song, girls; recitation, Rene Brears; song, "Annie Laurie," Rene Brears, May Gilbert, Edie Sollitt and Kathleen Chamberlain; dialogue in two acts, "Social difficulties," Ella Chamberlain, Dorothy Johnson, Mildred Jones, Ray Kingan and John Walker; recitation, Douglas Sheat; song, Rene Brears; song, "Evening Song," St. 6 girls.

Afterwards the hall was cleared and a dance was held, the musicians being Mrs G. Gilbert, and Misses Hatchard and A. Macpherson.
