» I.OWN COKRESPONDEirT.J The Haetings Rink continues to bo well patronised by both sexes. The management open tho rink on Saturday mornings for the school children, who are prevented from attending except on that day. There will be a ono mile handicap raco on next Thursday, tho nominations of which close on Wednesday night. On Saturday night a large crowd of peoplo assembled at tho Hastings railway station to welcome back Captain Russoll, by the 8 o'clock train from Wellington. On the train steaming up to the platform the Hastings Brass Band struck up " God Save tho Queen." Tho Volunteers were drawn up iv order under Lieutenant McLcod and Sub - Lieutenant Hansen. On Captain Russell stepping on to tho platform he was loudly cheered. The Captain, in a short speech, thanked those present for the honor thoy had done him, and after another cheer, tho crowd departed.
