"REPS" V. COMBINED TEAM.

Jim Boss and Patterson got on a rush to half-way flair. Norris attempted a run, but was brought down. The Reps, forwards carried the p'.iy onto their opponents' lines, which were cleared by a run by Wi Ilape. Norris passed to Percy and Percy to Jack Rosi, carrying the play once more into tho Combiner's quarters. ;Wi Hape ri.jr.iin relieved, Norris again passed to Percy, uud Lβ Quesne got the ball, passing 1o Dcinpsey, who waß collared on Ms opponents' froalline, where several scrums took pluco. Norris once more passed to Percy, Percy to Ross, the latter returning the ball to Percy, , who was collared on the goal-lino. Skeet relieved his side, passing to Wi Hape, who ran tr into touch at haft distance." Some reckless passing by Prentice, Wi Hape, and Harden lost some ground, which was regained by their forwards; immediately after Percy punted into touch past the half-way flag. Jack Ross did a fair run, but Childs regained the ground .with a dril bio. Norris got the ball at ■ half-way flag from aa opponent's pass, and had a clear run, passing the full-back, and scoring a try. Patterson took the lack, but failed to increase the score. From tho kiok-out Hawkine got the ball, and ran in front of tho goal, trying a pot, but kioked too low. Morrison got a pass from Le Quesno at tho half-way flag, and ran within a yard of the Com- l bined's goal-line, wheu the latter were forced down. Morrison did another ran, but was brought down by McJtse in the Combined** quarters. . Swan relieved his line, but passed to an opponent. Some scrums followed, and then Swan, once more relieved his territory. Wi Hape got on speed, but was brought down by Corbett. Ohilds and Whetu did a y dribble into the Reps, quarters, but Jack Ross regained thY i"' - ground by kicking into touch past the halfway flag. Harden, in passing, allowed Patterson to tret the ball,- who almost soored, and the Combined wero ,forced down. Half-time was called with the ball in the quarters of the Combined. The ball was r ■ at once rushed into tho Eeps. twenty-five, whero Yon Haast got the ball and ruehed it over the line,, causiug a mull, which resulted in favor of the Reps. Cuthbert made a good dribble, ultimately getting the ball and running in, scoring first try fot the Combined. Harden took the kick, but failed to place a goal. LeQuesna made a good run across the ground, and passed to Jack Ross, carrying tho ball into the Combined'a twenty-five. Norris did a fast spin, and passed to Peroy, who returned to> N orris, who. took took lie ball on. to the proal-line into touch. From a scrum Dompsey passed to Percy iv front of the goal, who had a drop, but kicked too low. The play was changed to tho Reps, quarters, and-theu Jim Ross got the ball and ran past - * the centre. Symonds and Jim Ross dribbled into the Combined's quarters. The latter's forwards regained the- ground. Shortly after the Reps, were forced dowrh Bonnett did a dodgy ran, and passed to Whetu. ' Stewart bounced the ball in from tonch, and ran to the Reps, goal-line, where ha was collared by Walker. By open play, tho Reps, relieved their territory, and Wi " Hape kicked into touch ,in the Repe. twenty-five. • Hughes did: a dribble, and ' Patterson a run, the latter passing to Ross, ' who was collared by Wi Hapo near tho * Combined's goal-line. A kick into touch at the centre flag changed the scene of play, and tho Reps, wore forced down. The Reps, were onoo more forced down, andtime was called. ScoreReps. .. .. .. 1 point Combined.. ~ ~ 1 point The Reps, played their emergencies, and also had to take on "an outsider to complete the team, thus weakening the original team to some extent. Tneir forward play was up to average, and their backs wore combined. The punts and dashes of the halves were quick, and the passing of the three-quarters was excellent, but their pots at goal wore weak. The Combined forwards' play was the bost, assisted by Stewart and Cuthbert, but the passing was awful, as on most occasions an opponent got tho ball through the players not looking to whom they passed. The collaring of both teams was fair.
