Telegrams aro to hand from Gibraltar stating that Lieut-General DeNachtigal, of the German army, is now at that port, and is about to proceed in a German gunboat to formally occupy the territory at Augra Pcquina, on the west coast of Africa, which for some time past has been a German settlement,, and regarding which diplomatic negotiations have passed between tho British aud German Governments owing to a dispute which occurred in October last between a firm of German merchants at the settlement and the captain of a British schooner over the question of the payment of the Customs duties.

(Received May 30, 4.39 p.m ), The Australian cricketers commenced a match (their sixth) to-day at Lord's ground, where they met an eleven representing the Gentlemen of England, composed as follows :—Messrs C. T. Studd, S. Christopherson, E. J. Diver, and W G. Grace, Lord Harris, and Messrs W. W. Read, A. W. Ridley, A. G-. Steele, G. 3?. Vernon, J. A. Bush, and J. Robertson. The attendance on tho ground was enormous, notwithstanding the cold inclement weather. An excellent wicket was pitched, and the ground was in first-rate order. The Gentlemen went in first, and were not disposed of until they had run up a total of 277 runs. The Australians then went in for their first innings, and when the stumps were drawn for the day their score stood at 83 for five wickets.

(Received May 31, 1.20 p.m.) Tenders for the Queensland loan of £2,070,000, bearing interest at i per cent., the minimum being fixed at £98, were opened to-day.
