MINING MATTERS.
The shareholders of the Pride of the We»t Claim have taken out some good specimens from the leader opened in their top drive. A number of rich specimens from tliQ Adelaide Claim (next the Lucky Hit) were shown &% our office j on Saturday, and we have been informed that a large number have been taken out during the week, The leader from whioh they were taken is about two feet thick, and a ton of the stuff waa crushed, as » sampJe, last week at Bull's one-stamper, which yielded 2ioz. of gold. The shareholders of the Saucy Alabama Claim, next the Telegraph, in Wiseman's Gully, have at length been successful in opening the reef of the latter claim, after Bpanding three months in the j I search. The reef is 24 feet thick where opened, and seems to increase in size at a lower level. The men are now engaged Rinking another shaft to catch the dip of the reef, and it is now twenty feet deep, The party are at present, however, taking out a, quantity ; of stove fiom the fivat shaft, which they intend having crushed as aoon as they can form a road to ! convey the quartz to Bleazard's battery. j
