DAMAGES AWARDED BY JURY
CLAIM AGAINST SHIPPING COMPANY (PRESS ABSOCIA.TIO* TELEGRAM.) HASTINGS. November 18. General damages amounting to £IOOO and special damages of £274 10s 3d were awarded by the jury to Sydney Edward Moore, a carpenter, in a civil action against the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company, Ltd., heard in the Supreme Court at Napier to-day, before the Chief Justice (the Rt. Hon. Sir Michael Myers). Both sides moved for judgment and his Honour reserved his decision. The action arises out of an accident in the lower hold of the Mahana when Moore fell from the deck over the top of the refrigerating plant to the bottom of the vessel.
