FORTNIGHTLY GATHERING
Mr C. S. Thomas, supported by Messrs R. H. Rankin and A. M; Miller, presided over a very large attendance of ■ members and -friends at the Caledonian Society’s fortnightly social on Wednesday evening. Ten new membets were elected, making a total of 57 for the season.
The programme, arranged by Messrs George Sey and A. M. Miller (directors), comprised the following items: Selections, society’s pipe band; song, Mr J. K. Haberfleld; Highland fling. Miss Joan' McDonald: violin solo, Miss Romola Griffiths; sailor’s. hornpipe, Miss Maisie Elliott; song, Miss Jean Sinclair: piano accordeon and concertina duet, Messrs R. Munnery arid R. Gastill; swords dance, Miss Flora Fitt; eccentric dance, Master Aeneas Chisholme; - Sean Triubhais, Miss "Irene Rees; piping selections, Mr J. Jackson; song, Miss Rita Simpson: reel o’ tullofch, Misses M. Elliott, I. Rees, F. Fitt, and J. McDonald. The society's accom-
panist, Mr G, C, Russell, was at the piano, and George Bradford’s orchestra supplied the music for dancing.
The recently formed Doric Bible class held a social in the Ardamine Hall recently. Winners of competitions were Misses B. Sargeant, M. Cwrrey, J. Kingsbury, J. Muckle. K. Me-. Kie, and Mr H. Muckle. There are about 200 windmills still working in Great Britain.
