TRUCKS DERAILED AT WARRINGTON
— CHRISTCHURCH TRAIN DELAYED * (PBKS3 ASSOCIATION TELEGEAM.) DUNEDIN, January 8. •Three trucks on the through night goods train from the north, which consisted of 28 trucks, were derailed on the north side of Warrington this morning. The authorities received advice at 9.18, a breakdown van leaving Dunedin 40 minutes, later. Buses were dispatched for Waitati. and SeaclifT to bring in the passengers on the morning train from Oamaru, and on the Christchurch mail train for the north, which is held at Waitati. The front wheels of thfe first truck deraued had left : the rails first near Omimi, but it was not until the train was running over the' points at the Warrington yards that a violent jerk completed the derailment, taking the other two trucks off ’ also. None capsized and the damage to the permanent way was small. It was not necessary to delay the north mail train more than 75 minutes, since a side line in \the goods yard was usable to the bridge. The line is now clear, ' ” t DUNEDIN EXPRESS DELAYED i The derailment at - Warrington caused the express from Dunedin, which should have arrived at Christchurch at 5.10 p.m., to be about 40 minutes late. The Invercargill-Lyttel-ton express,- which normally passes through Christchurch at 7.28 p.m., was only a ■ few minutes late.
