FORMATION OF AIR MINISTRY
♦- DISCUSSION WITH ENGLISH EXPERTS The formation of an Air Ministry in New Zealand is one of the matters to be discussed between the Government and aviation experts who are to arrive in the Dominion soon. This was announced by the Minister for Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) in an interview last night in ChristchurchMr Jones said that there had been no development about the suggestion that an Air'-: Ministry .should '.be formed in this country. No decision could be made until the arrival from England of two experts in aviation, for the matter would be discussed with them. It was more, than probable that these men would be able to advise the Government on this proposal. On September 2 the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) announced that Mr Francis G. L. Bertram, Deputy-Director of Civil Aviation in the British Air Ministry, would, leave England that week for New Zealand to advise the Government about commercial aviation developments. A second aviation expert, he said, would come to New Zealand to give advice about military aviation. In all probability both these experts would be in New Zealand together, and he expected that Mr Bertram would arrive this month. <,
