THE THEATRE ROYAL

TO TUB EDITOR OF THE FIiESS. Sir, —I should like to ask you a question. I notice that since the dancer La Meri finished some time ago, and two wrestling bouts came after the dancer, the Theatre Royal never reopened again. Can you tell me if J. C. Williamson Company is going to reopen it for pictures, vaudeville, or plays, as it would be a pity to see it closed for good. The two old theatres are now closed —the Theatre Royal and St. James.—Yours, etc., H.F.D.M. September 8, 1936. [The next opening of the Theatre Royal would be for Richard Crooks, on October 3, said an official of J, C. Williamson, Ltd., when the above letter was referred to him., It had been decided to open the theatre in the meantime only for legitimate shows. It was probable, however, that pictures would eventually be shown there.]
