REPORT OF LAST SEASON

Although members of the committee of the Shirley Tennis Club were very optimistic" about an increase in their numbers at the beginning of the last season, this did not materialise as fully as was hoped, according to the annual report which has just been issued. The tcial senior membership of the club is shown as 125.

Expenditure for the year shows an excess over income of £1 14s sd, but this was due to the customary allowance for depreciation and the writing off of outstanding subscriptions amounting to £7 17s, The overdraft at the bank had been reduced by £29 19s Bd, and now stood at £144 12s 6d.

A lack of enthusiasm had been shown by members in entering for the inter-club competitions and the four teams which played in these games were unsuccessful.
