DUVAUCHELLE WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
- ♦ Mrs D. Dick presided at the monthly meeting of the Duvauchelle Women’s Institute held recently. Two visitors were welcomed, Mrs C. Withell (Yaldhurst) and Miss Milligan (Takamatua). This meeting, took the form of a social for the president, Mrs Dick, who is leaving the district. Items were given by Mrs Manhire (song) and Mrs J. Mould and Miss Gaarder (duet). Mrs Dick was the recipient of a crystal bowl presented by Miss Gaarder for the members, and a posy by Mrs Manhire. Community singing and competitions were enjoyed during the afternoon. The visitors judged the monthly competitions. The results were as follows:—Decorated vase: Mrs Dick 1, Mrs A. Hammond 2, Miss Gaarder 3, Quilting: Mrs Dick 1. Mrs Hoskin 2. The hostesses were Mesdames Lewthwaite and L. Giddens, and Miss Gaarder.
