' • boiler team arrives HOPES FOR GOOD GAME , The Buller Rugby representative team, after an all-day journey, arrived in Christchurch last night to prepare for its Ranfurly Shield challenge match against Canterbury tomorrow. All are fit and well, and although there have been two alterations since the first selection, the team : should be one of the strongest that have represented Buller in recent seasons. The following are the players who * arrived yesterday:—Backs: W. Greer, J T. Connelly, C. Jones, J. Hill E Holder, N. Lamont, J. Simpson, A. " Graham, and A. Reid. Forwards: J. Stewart, G. Orman, R. Gardiner, C. Robertson, R. Gilsennan, J. Shaw, W. McNeight, E. Moreton, C. Jack, and J. Caldwell. , , The team for to-morrow will be picked this evening. The manager of the Buller team is the secretary of the Buller Rugby Union, Mr W. Craddock. Mr F. Keating, president of the union, and Messrs V. Goodall and S. Davis, members of the union, are also jn the offi- \ cial party. In addition approximately 20 other supporters also arrived. The team is staying at the Dominion Hotel, ■where it. was welcomed on arrival last night by officials of the Canterbury i , Rugby Unk*n. This morning the visitors will practise at Lancaster Park. Last night, the Buller team and officials were the guests of the Canterbury Rugby Union at a picture theatre. This evening at 5.15 o'clock, a "sportsmen's welcome" to the Buller team will be given in the Pioneer Sports Club's rooms, i : In an interview with a representative of "The Press" the manager of the Buller team said that the team did not make an invasion confidently, but it hoped to gain much match experience • * and make the struggle a close one. Of course there was very little "paper form" on which to base calculations, but he felt sure that Buller could do as well as West Coast, if not- a little better. When West Coast beat Buller in the Seddon Shield game early in the season by 7 to 3 the match was extremely even. TEAM TO PLAY OTAGO (PRESS ASSOCIATION TEMtWRAM.) WELLINGTON, September 7.
