The "Saturday Review" (London) recently held a prize competition "for a rendering of 'O Mistress Mine' in the manner of Ella Wheeler Wilcox." Princess Antoine Bibesco was the judge, and awarded prizes .of which wo quote the first with her introductory comment:

"Tho there 'were many brilliant cut-ties to this competition, there was a lack of that anecdotal touch which I myself particularlyprize in Mia Wilcox. Adjectives like hus-band-wiae were oonspicuously absent, nor djd I find that approximate prose ('You' have heard me speak of Plato, A thousand times no doubt. Well, I've discovered he didn't know What he waa talking about') which distinguishes her best verso. Many of the competitors Beemed to have confused Mrs Wilcox with Swinburne; others, again, had mistaken her for Kipling." NOW'S THE TIME. By Eveleyn M. Bowers.
