REDCLIFFS BURGESSES.
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Kcdcliffs Burgesses' Association was held on Thursday in the Kedoliffs Library, the president, Mr D- P. Oldridge, being in the chair. A letter from the Bedcliffs Hockey Club' asking the assistance of the Association in procuring a ground in the district was further considered, and a deputation was appointed to interview the member for the district, Mr J. McConAs, to see if some arrangement could be made with the Defence Department for use of a portion of the rifle range. It was also decided to wait on the Sumner Sports Association, to see if it would be possible to play, one or two matches in Sumner. " The meeting'went into committee to discuss recent happenings in the Sumner Borough Council. Mr K. Britton raised the question of the R«dclift3 Rowing Cup, which was given for annual competition. As the regatta was not now held, it was suggested that the cup be put up as a trophy for the eightoarcd interprovincial race. It was decided to notify the Union Club, holders of the cup. to this effect. The delay in the moving of the school was mentioned, and the chairman of the School Committee, who wa* present, explained that the contractor had met many unexpected difficulties, but it was hoped the scholars would be able to return at the end of r.ext week. .. It was decided to draw the Borough Council's attention to the necessity- for culverts over the side channels at the Celia street and Pratt street tramway stops.
