—♦—— J MAGISTERIAL. FRIDAY. (Before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.) . DRUNKENNESS. A first offender for drunkenness was convicted and fined 20s, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. Mary MeKegney, aged 54 years, was charged with being found drunk in Cathedral square, she having been three times previously convicted for drunkenness within the past six.months. MeKegney was convicted and sentenced to three months' imprisonment in the Addington gaol. • TRAFFIC CASES. Charles Codling wbb fined 10s and costs for cycling at night without a light. The following were fined with costs for cycling on the footpath: — Don Mclnnes 10s, Douglas Scott Dodds 10s, and John Armstrong 10s. Vernon Clements was convicted and ordered to pay costs for driving a motor-car on Stanmore road with the number plates obscured. The information on a charge that he was an unlicensed driver was dismissed. Edward Henry Behrns was fined 20s and costs for being an unlicensed driver of a motor-vehicle. On a similar charge Arthur Thomas Meikle (Mr H. Y. Widdowson) was convicted and ordered to pay costs. On' a further charge of having a motor-cycle without the' assigned number affixed, Meikle was convicted and discharged. NEGLIGENT DRIVING. Percy Kirby (Mr W. J. Stacey) was charged with negligently driving a motor-car in Cathedral square.. The case arose from the fact that defendant's car came into collision with a motorcycle on May 23rd. Kirby was convicted and fined £3 and costs.
