WINTER SHOW.

DISTRICT BAY COMPETITION An outstanding and noteworthy feature of last year's winter show was the District Bay exhibits, and the schedule for this year's show contains very full details'of the conditions governing this .year's competition. The space to be occupied by each bay is 80' feet. For organising expenses £4O is allowed, -provided the exhibits gain 40 percent, of the points scored by the winning bay. The entry fee is 20s. The total possible points are 450. To each bay must be attached a complete list of the whole of the exhibits. Decorations will be allowed, but will not be awarded points except for general effect. The prize is a challenge trophy, value 30 guineas, presented by the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Assocfa*tion of Canterbury, Ltd. v to be won three times before becoming the property of the winning district. The company will give trophies valued at five guineas :annually for the next three years to the association winning the challenge trophy. Farmers, who have good roots, seeds, or fat stock on the farm, would be well advised to peruse the schedule of the Canterbury Winter Show, which is to be held by the Canterbury A. and P. Association and the Canterbury 'Manufacturers' Association in' conjunction, from August 4th to August 18th. There are sections for fat stock as well, besides.hundreds of classes which will interest farmers' wives. A novel schools' section has been added. The success which attended the . Winter Show last year has enabled very liberal prize money to bo offered, and the 1928 show promises to be much. more successful than the initial venture a rear ago.
