* ,;; STOLEN CAR FOUND. T$ (PRBBS ASSOCIATION TM.EGBAM.) . TAUMARUNUI, June 8. Yesterday afternoon the police receiyed information tlint a motor-car had been found ' abandoned near a farmhouse at. Hikimutu, 12 or 14 miles south of Taumarunui. '^- Investigations proved the car to bo the one .which was stolen from Auokjland last week*,, and tho opinion^is'expressed that the escaped Buck< . Jey used the car'to make into • the King Country, where he"aonndoned • it, probably owing to the benzine giving out. It is believed that tho 'car passed through Taumarunui on Sunday night. Further information) shows that Buckley abandoned it on Sunday nfter- - nodn and persuaded a settler to drive ' him > to Owbango. The settler was un- '■ aware of his identity. He expected • him to return for the car, hence the , delay in. notifying the police, who did not know of-the car's abandonment ' until yesterday. Meanwhile. Buckley, who has friends in this district and knows the country ' well, is still at large. Sergeant O'Brien and Detective Davis, of Auckland, are at present making investigations at Hikimutu.
