HYDE'S DEPORTATION TO N.Z. ftJNITSD PRKBB ASSOCIATION—BT K.ECTBIO TILEQBAPH—COPSHIOHT.) (Beceived May 22nd, 9.30 p.m.) VANCOUVER, May 21. Mr A. E. Skinner, the Immigration Commissioner here, stated that Francis Raymond Hyde was deported at his own request. Every possible aid was given him. He had no money, and waß desirous of getting to New Zealand, where his only relatives resided. Had he remained in Canada he would have become a. public charge. The deportation order enabled him to get transportation home free. Every kindness was extended to him, and he was sent to the ship on a water bed loaned by a hospital. The bed was taken aboard for his use until he arrived at his destination. .. He was taken under the care of the ship's physician, and given special attention by him. The accident which resulted so seriously for Hyde occurred about a month alter he arrived from New Zealand. —Australian Press Associ ation. ) [The Pbe39 Special Service messages from Auckland recently stated that the treatment of a Gisborne farm labourer, E. B. Hyde, who arrived in New Zealand by the Aorangi, after having his back broken in an accident on a Canadian farm, was the subject of an enquiry. The Canadian Trade Commissioner for New Zealand stated that he thought it impossible that the man could have been deported.]
