SELECTED VIEWS.

PICTURES THAT ENTERTAIN. COLLECTED FROM MANY SOURCES.

Auckland is very proud of its Zoo, which now contains an exceedingly fine collection of strange animals. Some of its best exhibits have been recently photographed by a representative of the "Weekly Press," and some very realistic pictures are reproduced in this week's issue of the national family magazine. From the other end of the Dominion comes a series of photographs depicting the gaieties of May Fair Week at Invercargill—a really entertaining collection. By a happy coincidence these pictures appear in the same issue as those describing the Canterbury College students' procession, which was the outstanding event of last week in Christchurch. The photographs of the frolicsome students and the crowds that watched them are sure to be highly appreciated. Other subjects illustrated in the "Weekly Press"- this week take a wide range. The usual judicious selection of overseas pictures includes some striking representations of new fashions and a page depicting the life of the Greek monks who have a little republic of their own on Mount Athos. Items of more local interest are a series of hunting views obtained during a recent meet at Dunsandel, portraits of a number of the winners at the Christchurch Competitions, snapshots of the outboard motor-boats which disported themselves at Redcliffs last Saturday, and a proup photograph of the Christchurch United Banjo Band. There are fine examples of pictorial photography in the illustrations pages, and the literarv fare in this number is appetising. TKe "Weekly Press" will be on sale everywhere this morning.
