Mrs George Aitken (Fendalton) is leaving to-morrow to visit her sister, Mrs Alister Deans. "Morven," Darfield. Mrs Graham, Papanui road, and lier grand-daughter, Mrs Ethel le Cren (Timaru), intend leaving next month for a visit to Sydney. Mrs Egerton Reid, accompanied by Mns Davis and Miss Gibson, who have just- arrived from England, is returning to Christc-hurch this morning. They will all stay at Warwick House. Mrs Kenneth Macdonald and her children (Fendalton) are leaving to-day for a holiday visit to Longbeach. Mrs T. E. Taylor (Cashmere Hills) left last night for a short visit to Wellington. Mrs Louis Campbell and family (Happy Valley) are visiting Christchurch, and are staying at Warwick House. Mrs Phillip Sherratt (Gisborne), who has been visiting her mother, Mrs C. Wells, Harakeke street, is leaving for the north to-morrow. Mr and Mrs Giles (Hokianga) are arriving in Christchurch at the end of this week, and wift stay with Mrs Giles, Cambridge terrace. Miss Erica Westmacott (Timaru), who has been visiting friends in Christchurch, is returning home to-day. Miss E. Parlarfe is leaving Christchurch on Saturday night to take up a position on the staff of Woodford House', Havelock North. Mrs St. John Buckley is amongst the guests at Warwick House. Mrs P. Graham (Wanganui) is a guest at the United Service Hotel. Sir Bruce and Lady Stewart, of Pigeon Bay, are guests at''the United Service Hotel. Mr and Mrs Ruddenklau (Metliven) are staying at the Clarendton Hotel. The new plain dance assembly will hold a dance at the Canberra Hall, Linwood avenue, to-morrow evening.. T. Jones's Orchestra will render music, and a i'ew jazz dances will be included in the programme. The Wembley Club, whose fortnightly dances in St.* Mary's Memorial Hall, Manchester street north, continue to be extremely popular, is arranging a special Jubilee Dance, to be held on Wednesday, May 30th. CARNIVAL DANCE. There was a very large gathering of j dancers at the Winter Garden last night, when Messrs Stevens and Sons, Limited, held their annual dance. Continuous music was supplied by Bailey's Jazz Band and Marston's Orchestra. During the evening pupils of Miss Dorothy White danced a ballet, and Miss Billee Stevens a solo dance, and various novelties were introduced. Mr Arthur 0. JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS. j \ During the Jubilee celebrations, two fancy dress balls for children will be held, the first at the Winter Garden on Saturday afternon. The committee consists of Mesdames Archer, H. S. S. Kyle, Thacker, M. Preridergast, J. S. Neville, A. J. Benzie, H. Wyatt, J. C. Holmes, H. H. Wauchop, and Miss EL. Undrill and Mr E. Poulsen. The programme was decided upon at a meeting of the committee last night. The grand march is to take place at 2.45' p.m. The marshals will be Messrs C. Throp and M. Prendergast. The committee will meet at the Winter Garden on Saturday morning to make final arrangements. The prizes, five for girls and a similar number for boys, will be'presented by Mrs Archer. The official visitors taking part in the motor drive will visit the gathering. SURPRISE PARTY. A surprise "gift evening" organised by Mrs G. Dodds and Miss C. O'Keilly, was taken to the residence of Mrs A. Gillman, Edward avenue, St. Albans, in honour of Miss Ivy Gillman, whose marriage takes place shortly. The evening was spent pleasantly in games, competitions, and dancing, musical items being given by Mrs Judge, Miss D. Dolierty, and Mr W. Brown. Competition prizes were won by Mrs Judge, Miss M. Triggs, and Mr W. Brown. Those pesent were: Mrs A. Gillman, Mr and Mrs G. Gillman, Mr and Mrs W. Brown, Mr and Mrs G. Dodds, Mrs Soames, Mrs Judge', Mrs A. L. Owens, Misses B. Clarke, L. Perkins, I.
