A Tery pleasant .function took place last evening when the friends of Mr Ch&s. H. Toy mot to v.ish him happiness on the occasion of ki3 marriage, which takes plaos to-day, Mr W. Wules. presided over a large attendance. Mr J. McLepd, on behalf of •thoso present, aake<l Mr Toy's acceptance of a tobacco pouah for himßalf ajid of a ecfc of carvers and a Doulton cruet set for th.3 futuire Mm Toy. Eulogistic references in regard to tho fjucfit'a prowess as a sport and otherwise wero piade by tho Mayor (Mr W. T. Lester), and Messrs A. Stanley, C. D. Harkess, and S. Wales. Mr Toy briefly responded.
Billiards. The Lyltelton Club's weekly flying fifty billiard tournament could not b P finished on Monday night, owing to tho failuro of tho electric lijiit.
