The letter-cards from the lads bring homo to ns the fact that their hearts are in their own little country. Ono soldier in Palestine who hails from Coutts Island, in expressing the appreciation of the "Bhoys" for their parcels, is solicitous for the welfare of Canterbury after the dreadful snow-stonns which wo had. tho misfortune to suffer this winter. PRAISE FROM AUSTRALIA. —Mr O Walker, secretary of the Citizens' War Chest Fund, Sydnoy, expressed in a letter to the Mayor of Auckland warm admiration of the work achieved by tho women of New Zealand in connexion with the Dominion Gift Parcels. Mr Walker rotates that whorever New Zeai land soldiers wero New Zealand comforts found -hem, and that returned Australian soldiers, of which lie sees many hundreds, had informed, him that tho New Zealanders were envied By all the other troops. SHOW GROUNDS FETE.—The president, Mrs Holland, wishes to thank most sincerely all the helpers who gave such valuable assistance and. worked so indefatigably towards making, tho Lady Liverpool Stall the success it was v at the Carnival. The gifts sent in were so numerous that it will be. impossible to acknowledge all in particular, but Mrs Holland extends her thanks to all who through branches or schools or individually sent in donations towards tho stall.

Tho school children made a most successful raid on eggs. THE COPPER TRAIL has teen most successful, and we have to express the committee's grateful thanks for the timely assistance given to our funds by the COPPER TRAIL executive. We fain would wish to say that funds suf-' fice for the period of the war, but unfortunately; the monthly levy on the exchequer is big, and l no halt in view.
