» APPROVED BY PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSIONER. (special to "the pbess.") WELLINGTON, August 1. The manner in which the Military Supplies Department, under the control of the Hon. Arthur M. llyore, has carried out its duties is referred to by the Public Service Commissioner in his fourth annual report, in the following terms: — ''Ag an instance of what is possible with proper co-ordination, the opera-' tions of the Supplies Board established for the purpose of purchasing supplies for tho Defence Department may be alluded to. Assisted by a Board of three business men who volunteered for the purpose the purchase of supplies for the Defence Department is now c n such a footing that arrangements arc made for many months ahead, and it is quite certain that the buying i» on the most favourable basis. It is understood that the saving in money owing to the operations of the Board, as compared with the former system, has been very large.' 7
