Tho secretary reported that a cheque for £307 3a 5d had been received from "The Jfrese," being amounts collected expressly for the Fund. This amount included two monthly subscriptions of £30 ISs and £31 6s Irom "The Press" staff. A vote of thanks was accorded to Messrs Mawson, Stewart, and Bcckatfc for their ear* vices in auditing tho Fund's accounts during the past 18 months. A Jotter was read, addressed to Mr C. JWard, iielgiivn Consul, from the Belgian Consul at Sydney, appealing for funds on behalf of the Belgian prisoners of war in Germany, and enclosing a letter to that effect, signed by Lady Lowther and Baron Moncheur, president and vioo-preaideni of the "Oouvrea d'Assistances Beiges." '• It was decidcd to write to the National Committee for Relief in Belgium, whoeo headquarters ore in London, asking them to divert a certain, sum for this purpose. Satisfactory reports were received from the members present as to the result of their efforts in canvassing the heads of the various business houses in Christchurch in regard to contributions from their staffs towards the Fund. Mr James Jamieeon said that at tlio Kaiappi Woollen Factory yesterday morning the directors had oalled the employees from work a quarter of an hour before the lunch interval, to be addressed by Mr O. T. J.- Alpere on tho necessity for Belgian relief. Tho result had been eminently satisfactory. In regard to"the balance of £218 8s lOd re--maining as a result of the Children's Fund for Starving Belgian Children, it waa decided to pay this amount into the publio account to the credit of tho Education Department. _ • It was decided to call a meeting of the General Committee of the Fund, far Wed-nesday-next at 3 pun. SAILOR HEROES' FUND. ASHBTT&TOK. At the Tinwald stock Bale yeeterday, {he New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association offered two sheep given by Mr G. Body on behalf of the Navy League Fund. The first sheep offered waß a six-tooth Down Cross wether of phenomenal size,' which was sold at £6, the purchaser being Mr Frank Frost, butcher, of Aehburton. A. Bix-tooth ewe of the same breed""brought £5 6a, tho purchaser being Mr Jamee Smith, junr, butcher, of Alford Forest load. RED CROSS FUND. RAKATA. The annual meeting of the Kafavia Branch was held in St. Mark's Schoolroom. There was a record attendanoe, over 60 members being present. The president (Mrs Boag) occupied the chair. The secretary (Mrs •tslakiaton) read the report, which showed that excellent work had been done in every department. The treasurer (Mrs Todd) read the baiance-Bheet,- which showed that the receipts had totalled £565, and that there waa a balfince in hand of £36. The amount spent in material for garments was £177, in wool £10, and in bandage material £IUO. special collection of money and clothing had been taken; up in June for the widows and orphans of the sailore lost in the naval battle, the result being £28 10s 3d, and 206 garments. -Votes of thanks were passed to the officers, tho heads of committees, and the collectors, also to the vestry of St. Mark's for the regular .use of the schoolroom, to Mr May for giving his services aa auctioneer and auditor, to Mr Tucker . for tho free use of tho hall for the conoertUiy the Savage Club, and to all helpers. Who president explained that arrangements had been made for -a concert to be given by ■ the Tramway Troupe on August 6th. A social hour' was then spent, musical items being given by Mesdames Penny, Todd, Britten_den, Haydock, Davison, and Miss Tucker, "and a recitation by Mra HHI. A very interesting and instructive display of the month's work was held, and by. request was left on the tables until the following morning, so that the members qf the men's bandage class might see it.' Afternoon tea was dispensed and brought a most enthusiastic meeting to a close.

LADY LIVERPOOL FUND. GIIEENDALE. A social evening, arranged by the ladies of Greendale for the purpose of reoeiving gifts for our boy& in the trenches, in connexion wit-h the Lady Liverpool Fund.' waa held in the Orange Hall on Friday night, and proved a decided success. Mrs J. W. Warren presided over the meeting, and briefly sketched the activities of the ladies in patriotic work during the past thirteen months. Mrs Holland of Christchurch), waa present, and gave an interesting address on Liverpool work. _ The following programme was given:—Pianoforte eolo, iUsB Holland; violin solo, Miss W. Jarman; eong, Miss E. Holland; competition: Towns of .Now Zealand (won by Mr *A. Shipley); •song, Miss M. Rudd; recitation. Mrs H. R. Smith; song, Miss E. Holland; reading, Miss 11. Rudd; eong. Miss E. Holland; hat-trikiming competition: Won by Miss R. Weljs; eong, Mise M. Rudd. At the conclusion of the programme, a sale of vegetables was held, Mts Sandford acting as auctioneer ; tho sale /realised £8 lGs 9d. Sweets made by the ladies and sold during the evening brought £1 3s. A piece of fancy work brought by Mrs Holland waa put up and said and re-eold. and brought £22 6s. This list of gifts is as follows: —80 tins condensed rnilu, 6 tins cocoa and milk,-2 tins coffeo and milk, Sib Rex cheese, 29 tins sardines and herrings, 15 tins tonjues, 15Jlb cocoa, 5 tins soups, 26 packets soup, lib pickles, 7 tins jam, 13 tina tinned fruit, 2 tins toffee, 2 tins butterscotch, 3 tins sweete, 2 tins ginger nuts, 24 packets raisins, 4 sticks Iquorice, 10 tubes tooth paste, S tooth brushes, 2 dozen pairs bootlaces, 6 tins insect powder, 4 boxes, 2 packets, and 2 boxes soap, 7 sticks shaving soap, 38 tins tobucco. j.O tin 3 and 4 packets cigarettes, 4 writing pads, 4 packets envelopes, 5J dozen leodpcncils, 9 oottlea bovril, 2 boxes chocolates, 3 packets chocolate, J 2 cakes chocolate, 1 packet dat-cs, 2 jam lemco, 4 Roekbum rasige lamps, 16 pairs socks, 1 pair mittens, 1! handkerchiefs, 8 reels and 13 ekeine thread, buttons, 8 pipes. /■ The total value of gifts and sale of various articles amounted to £54 14s.
