GOODS TRAIN DERAILED
0 ; BUNS INTO SLIP NEAR AVOCA. SEVERAL TRUCKS DAMAGED. - A special goods train which loft Arthur's Pas 6 for Christchurch at 5.30 last evening, ran into a slip on the lino near Avoca, it being reported that tho engine was partially derailed, and that several trucks were smashed. Tho mishap occurred about 7.30 p.m. Enquiry at the local railway station last night, elicited little beyond tho fact that tho train derailed was carrying stock from the West Coast for tho Addington market Tho report as to the damage could not be confirmed. but the was expressed that the stock had not suffered.
