PROBABLY FINISH ON SATURDAY. CSrECIAL TO "TUB PRESS.") WELLINGTON, August 1. A big effort is being mad© to finish, the session this week, but it will roquire the closest application on the part of members to accomplish it. As' one aid to that end, the Government has decided to jettison the Statutes Amendment Bill, which contained some general legislation and incorporate tho few points of importance in it in other measures. Friday w'lll bo a brief Parliamentary day, as* a big gathering in connexion with Declaration Day will command the attention of Ministers in the evening. It thus becomes practically a choice between Thursday and Saturday for the wind-up, and in view of the known difficulty of Parliament working to time-table, the latter day is the better choice. THAT TRIP HOME. A definite denial was given this evening by the Prime Minister to the prevalent idea that he and Sir Joseph Ward will leave Now Zealand by the Niagara on Tuesday next for England. When asked this evening, Mr Masscy said: "Thi6 is not a fact."
