SUMMARY AND FORECAST.
Mr D. C. Bates, Government Meteorologist, supplied the following weather summary and forecast at 5 p.m. yesterday:— . Westerly winds have increased, especially about Cook Strait, and the weather changed to-day with ft falling barometer. Cloudy weather has prevailed in the North and rain has fallen about and southward of Cook Strait, especially on the West Coast and in the eouthern districtPresent indications are for high and squally westerly winds, changing to southerly soon. Cold, gloomy and wet meather is probable generally, with snow on the higher levels in the South, tho barometer falling further in tho North hut rising everywhere by tomorrow evening.
