Tho following cable message has been despatched to the London ofiloe oi, tho Waihi Company: —"No. 8 level Soorpicn S.E. cnoascut 792 ft driven. No. 9 level Empire lode south from Peirch crosscut 12ft driven (638ft650ft). value 7s per ton, width of lode about 4ft. Martha lode north section west of No. 4 shaft- crosscut at 700 ft hoe 12ft, value Sβ per ton. No. 10 level crosscut north from No. 5 shaft, 57ft driven (711ft-714ft). Empire lode cost of No. 4 shaft crosscut at No. 10 level 30ft driven, value £2 4s per ton." MAY QUEEN MINE. A return of more than usual importance eam-o from the May Queen Mine. -The inipcrtanco lies in the fact that it proves the ore from tho Exchange reef at the 1000 ft level to be worth sJoz of bullion per load. This' augusrs well for the future of the low levels at Thames goldfields. WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION MINE. For the paat few days sales have been regularly made of. Waihi Grand Junction sharos, s and the price has advanced to 35s as compared with 29s a few weeks ago. Yestevrday one line of 500 shares was placed. There have been rumours of good ore being , met with, and these are substantiated by the following telegram received to-day from the Waihi correspondent of the "Star": — "Exceptionally fine looking ore is showing , in th« crosscut from the winze on the Eoyal lode No. 5 level in the Grand Junction Kino. The assay returns rfioußl show highly satisfactory values, as about 30ft of highgrade ore is showing in the crosscut, which ie not yet through the reef." WESTLAND DEVELOPMENT COMPANY. (SVKCUX. TO "'THK FHESS.") GREYMOUTH, September 29. Mr C. J. Parhatti, the well-known mining engineer, who has been identified with several mining projects on the West Coast during tho last four years, left yesterday for Wellington, en route to London. Hie mission is to represent the Westland Mining Development Company, Ltd., « private company, consisting chiefly of Greymouth and Wertl*nd sharenolders.
