AMUSEMENTS.

* CRECHE KINDERGARTEN FESTIVAL. The Theatre Royal was filled in erery part last night when the festival pro■moted in aid of the Creche and Kinaergarden Association was continued. At the opening of the entertainment Cγ. W. H. Cooper introduced his Lordship ! Bishop Grimes to the audience. In a happily-expressed speech his Lordship warmly commended the objects of the Association,, and mentioned that he was amongst th'bee present at the first meeting of the Association, during the lifetime of the late Mayor, at which the project was launched. The programme submitted wae very successfully given, and was most enjoyable. Scholars from the East Christchurch schooj gave a negro minstrel turn very* effectively, Miss Murie! Brewins recited pleasingly, the Highland dances arranged by Miss Bersie Macdonald were performed excellently, and the clubswinging by Mr T, Tankard's team was much enjoyed. Patrons of the festival this afternoon and evening should note that home-made sweets will be on sale by a bevy of young ladies. This afternoon and evening the programme will include a repetition of all the best items that have t>een given.
