STUARI, ESQ., Featherston street, •Wellington. . , „. E. BILL FISHER, ESQ., Christchurch. MESSRS QUICK AND SMITH* Dunedin. MESSRS FRATER BROTHERS, Auckland." THE COLONIAL GLASSWARE COMPANY (LTD.), has been formed for the purposes inter alia of carrying on in New Zealand the manufacture of. Glassware, etc., and for that purpose has purchased for the sum of £3450 the valuable Plant, Buildings, Land, etc., which stood in the books of the New Zealand Glassware Company (Ltd.), at £5754. Of the purchase money £2500 has been paid by the issue of 2500 shares fully paid to £1 each and the balance of £350 remains upon mortgage for 5 years at 5 per cent, interest. - The manufacture of Glassware in, this colony has hitherto been attended by great difficulties, of which the necessity of obtaining highly skilled labour has been the' most serious; such conditions have been -virtually prohibitive, and'they have forced the Directors of tho Company to look for alternative methods. Thoir attention has been consequently directed towards labour-saving appliances, and -exhaustive 'enquiries have elicited the fact- that American patentees have perfected the invention of bottle-making machines which entirely dispense with skilled HANDBLOWING labour. These machines are in active operation not alone in America but also in Australia; in tho latter continent under the direction principally of Mr Lamblion L. Mount, an expert who for nearly 2S years managed the Melbourne Glass and Bottle Works—the . most successful glass manufactory -in Australasia. -The -.Directors approached -Mr Mount-7-wbo was described to them' as the "only really, successful manufacture of bottles in the colonies and the one who built up the Victorian, industry by his exceptional knowledge "of his subject"— and induced him to visit New Zealand for the purpose of reporting upon the beat methods and prospects of glass-manufacture here.-The results of these labours are embodied in a report annexed to the prospectus. The- evidence in favour of machine manufacture has clearly demonstrated that .the old style hand-blower is no'longer a necessity to the' manufacture' of glassware, and that .the conditions of the trade k have, been completely revolutionized' by the introduction of machinery,. The Directors of this Company have-therefore determined'to Avail themselves of the latest invention, and it is for the purposes of obtaining machinery of an up-to-date character and for> providing sufficient working capital to carry on an extensive business that the present issue of shares is offered to the public. '^, According to the estimate -of Mr . Mount, the profits ,cf the Company should be at least £1800 per annum after paying all,* 5 expenses. Such a sum would provide for the payment of-handsome dividends upon, the Capital of the Company,'bosidesiproviding the. accumulation of,a Reserve Fund.
