LAND BOARD.
The Canterbury Crown Land Board met •n Thursday. Present—Messrs S. Weetman (Commissioner), R. Meredith, A. C. Pringle, D. McMillan and J. McLachlau. The following applications were granted : Geo. Cursley, village homestead, lease in perpetuity, section 17, reserve 1128, block xvi, Waimate 10a; Wm. Thos. Collins, do. section 494, block ii, Arowhenua, lr; Michael Sullivan, loose in perpetuity, section 1 and 2, Pareora settlement block xii Otaio 63a 3r 38p: Maria Fitzgerald, cash, block xii, Geiftldine, 74a; Edward Pavitt, lease in perpetuity, section 16, Pawaho Hamlet, block xvi Christchurch, la 2r 4p ; Applications for exchange of perpetual leases to leases in perpetuity were granted to Jeremiah McCarthy, Waimate and Waitaki, 10a, Thomas Pearson, Oxford, 49a lr 17p, and Thomas Edward Pearson, do, 49a Or 33p. A freehold title of d. p; lot 17, reserve 91, Redoliff, was granted to John McGimpsey. A number of applications for transfer were dealt with. It was resolved to approve of the valuation of improvements on R.S. 36371, Rangitata, for re-disposal, being fixed at £105 It was decided to notify the holder of lease in perpetuity, No. 147, lot 28, Pareora settlement to either reside permanently on the land or transfer within tv:o months, failing which Lis interest would be forfeited. Concerning Crown land in the old Waimakariri riverbeds, Kaiapoi, the minute of May 19th, 1898, as far as related to Lots D. and E., 3a and 14Ja, was rescinded, and the lots let to Jas. Holland instead of W. Doublcday, reserving to the latter right of I access. It was further decided to require j from Mr Isaac Wilson a year's back rent of Lot C, 18Jac, and to require him to put the | land down in white crop this year. It was resolved to approve of certain town lots at Orari, applied foi by the Church Property Trustees being offered for sale at the next auction. It was decided to reserve those portions of tho old tramway reserve near Tai Tapu asked for by tho Lincoln Road Board, provided they supplied a proper eurvey plan, and took steps for the sale of the remainder of the land. The sum of £250 received for improvements on rural section 36231, Hunter's Hills, was divided as under—Expenses of recovery and resale, £10 ; to be refunded to tho late tenant, Owen Blackler, £240. A number of defaulters as to residence and improvements were dealt with on their merits. It was decided to rescind the forfeiture of Denis Murphy'c lease, Highbank, upon a satisfactory report from the Ranger. It waa decided to declare the lessee's interest forfeited in lease in perpetuity, lot 7, Otarakaro settlement. It was decided to suspend the forfeiture of lease of rural -sections 36481-2, Ruapuna village settlement, to enable the Advances to Settlers' Department to arrange for the sale of le-we. A number of defaultora of root were also dealt with.
